Fairy Tale Assassin

Introduction

This story is a dark homage to the Fractured Fairy Tales which was part of the old Rocky and Bullwinkle TV series from the late 50s/early 60s. You can find them on Youtube if you are unfamiliar with the series.

Synopsis: A grandfather reincarnates into a fairytale world. He comes into the body of a starving 17-year-old being chased by a mob who considers him a ghoul. After escaping the walled town, Covan the Brown Hair becomes the fake Count of Americus. As Covan makes his way through a cruel medieval fantasy world, he meets familiar characters from fairy tales and mythology. But the stories and the characters don’t match the children’s books the man once read to his grandchildren. Covan must use his 21st century knowledge to survive in a much darker place than the Grimm brothers imagined.

The Curse of Blackbane

Introduction

In this dark fantasy tale set during the late 18th century, William Marshall carries the infamous name of Blackbane. The rogue buccaneer captain from the Americas currently works for the Ottomans and plies the waters of the Mediterranean.

During a bloody attack on a convent, Blackbane discovers a golden cross and dies at the hands of archangel Remiel. In a cruel twist, the angel returns the pirate to life while giving him a terrible curse. Blackbane becomes immortal and his memories filled with the everlasting suffering of those he’s killed.

Now pursued by the Seven Princes of Hell, who intend to rip his immorality and soul from his body, Marshall flees to new waters. Captured in France, the captain meets a strange, bloodthirsty preacher called the Black Monk.

Unable to escape his vicious past, Marshall receives a vision, which may put an end to his curse. With the help of his new friend, the pirate believes he found his escape by recovering the lost relics of saints. However, he doesn’t realize that angels carry their own agendas. Like Dante’s journey through Hell, the man called Blackbane finds his new destiny woven in terror, violence, and blood.

A Dagger Through Dimensions

Introduction

Everything started the day after a woman and her thugs used me as a punching bag in a dark alley. If you’re thinking that I woke in some medieval-like fantasy world after they got through, you can’t be further from the truth. There are no castles, dungeons, dragons, or magic swords here. The first few minutes, I held out hope that this place would have status bars showing HP/MP, etc. just like a lot of tropes. I mean who wouldn’t love some amazing power or magic? The problem is there’s no system or cultivation here.

But I have a dusty office with an invisible secretary. Oh, and I found out my name by looking at the one stenciled on the office door.

The name Dagger should give you a clue.

Yeah, that woman sent me into a place where I’m a private detective. It’s what they called a shamus back in 1940. The thing is this place isn’t on the map and I can’t leave. Well, not without a tremendous loss of blood. Trust me, I’ve tried.

At the end of the day, I’m just an ordinary guy stuck in the past that doesn’t totally match the history books. I can get beat up or killed by any of the gangsters, backstabbing people, or crooked cops I meet. Hell, I can’t even tell if the people are NPCs. After all, they seem to have lives like any person you might meet. Then again, how many times do you see dead movie stars wandering around on the streets?

It’s another dimension that runs like an old movie, leaving me with no choice but to find a way to escape. While I don’t miss my college classes that much, this place certainly puts a damper on my career hopes. Besides, Lane Dagger has a lot of people trying to kill him.

Chapter One begins here.

Infinite Loop - Chapter 1

Introduction

Warren finds himself in the bed with a petty, blonde woman who’s quietly sleeping. That’s the start of his problems! Warren doesn’t know who the woman is and what he’s doing there! In fact, he’s not even sure what decade it is. Warren is dead! He knows this as a fact. By now, he expected to be wearing wings or running around with a pitchfork in hand. Instead, Warren’s afterlife is an eerie, mixed-up purgatory. Instead of standing at the Pearly Gates, he’s trying to survive inside of a film world made up of obscure movies from the past. Worse, Warren understands this far too well that he is just one of many lost souls trapped inside a bizarre reality engraved into celluloid by long-dead writers. He finds that his lot in this new life is to wake inside the body of someone who will be the upcoming murder victim. Warren carries no memories of the character and must piece together his identity. Once the woman next to him wakes, Warren’s day quickly goes downhill. He quickly discovers that he’s aboard a tramp steamer returning from Cuba during the 1930s. Finding himself involved with an unsavory group of associates, Warren suddenly stands accused of two murders. Just one step away from the police and the gallows, the accused man must identify and trap the real killer. Escaping from the police and on the run from gangsters, Warren discovers Amber, his reluctant witness to his innocence may not be the person he thinks she is. Slowly he finds Amber may hold the key to his escape from purgatory. And, he finds a common bond between them. Even more, he develops feeling which may lead to his doom. Can Warren convince the woman that their fates are linked as they seek to discover the murderer?
